WHAT WE DO
The Initiative
The Faith-Based Housing Initiative connects design and development professionals with faith leaders to explore the process of transforming church properties into housing. Participant congregations work alongside experts and peers to build the skills and plans they need to execute incredible housing developments that build community and enhance their neighborhoods.
PART 01
CityVisit
A one-day, in-person catalyst to build local momentum and prepare for the full training. FBHI convenes congregational and civic leaders to introduce faith-based housing concepts, case studies, and explore how it may work in a particular city or region.
In partnership with Southern Urbanism.
PART 02
Design School
In a ½ day charrette, participating congregations work with our world class designers to draw schematic site plans that include scaled drawings, parking, trees, open space, and potential architecture.
In partnership with [innerblock] Design Studio.
PART 03
Development School
In this intensive four-part curriculum, congregations refine their project vision, learn development fundamentals, build pro formas, and create investor proposal packages. By the end, participants have a complete “Deal Book” with site plans, execution plans, and clear next steps to maintain momentum.
In partnership with the Incremental Development Alliance.
